It's just business
This morning I read an article about a Singapore film that only 7 people showed up for.
Well, that is the reality. We can’t make a film and hope people will support it just because it’s a Singapore film. It doesn’t work that way.
It’s the same if you open an F&B and hope people will support it because it’s Singapore food, or open a shop and expect people to buy just because the product is made in Singapore.
People buy things for a reason, be it good food or a reliable product. People watch films for a reason too: for entertainment, to laugh, to cry, etc. Wanting to support Singapore film alone is not reason enough.
Making a film is just like running a business.
