Sharing the hardware and software I use in my day-to-day life:
Study room
- MacBook Air M1 - I'm happy with it, may consider the 15" model in the next upgrade.
- Apple Thunderbolt Display - Bought it cheap ($220) on Carousell. The best 2K display. Will change to the Apple Studio Display when I'm feeling rich.
- IKEA SIGFINN Monitor Stand - I needed my monitor to be higher than my MacBook Air, was using a stack of books previously.
- Razer Mouse & Mouse Pad - Don't ask me the model; I've been using it for years! All I know is the old reliable wired model.
- IKEA VADHOLMA Kitchen Island - Yeah, I use it as my work desk. A bit overkill if you ask me now. But I can sit or stand while working without any adjustment.
- IKEA FRANKLIN Bar Stool - Not the most comfortable, but it works.
Living room
- Sony 40" LCD TV - This trusty TV doesn’t give me an excuse to replace it!
- Apple TV HD - To make my TV smarter.
- Apple Time Capsule - Yes, still functioning well.
- HomePod mini - My daily voice-activated radio.
- Zeppelin Air - Probably the first AirPlay speaker. May replace it with a HomePod eventually when the stars align.
- iPad Pro 11-inch - My entertainment device.
- Dyson Digital Slim - Yes, I do housework. It is lightweight, good for my tiny arm. Eyeing the Dyson Submarine now.
- SMATRUL Smart Plug - To control my home appliances and schedule them to turn on or off automatically.
On the move
- iPhone 14 Pro - Self-explanatory.
- AirPods Pro 2 - Apple is good at creating products that you didn’t know you needed until you use them. This is one of those.
- Apple Watch SE - I got it for free from a credit card promotion gift.
macOS apps
- Visual Studio Code - Seems like the industry standard for a code editor. Looks better with the PyCharm Theme.
- iA Writer - A minimal note app that can help me focus on writing. I bought it for iOS too.
- Termius - An SSH platform to access servers.
- TradingView - I use it to look at stock market charts, acting like a pro.
- FreeForm - A whiteboarding app by Apple. I use it to draft flowcharts for my work.
- Hidden Bar - A utility app to hide cluttered icons in the top bar.
- Magnet - Another utility app to quickly resize windows using shortcut keys.
iOS apps
- Spark - I've tried many mail apps and have given the Apple Mail app plenty of chances, but I always end up with Spark.
- Calendar 5 - My requirement for a calendar app is to be able to view events in a monthly view. This app does it well.
- Google News - I prefer the Apple News app, but it is not available in Singapore. So this is the next best thing.
- X - I mostly use it to get updates. I post when I'm in the mood.
- LumiHealth - To get free money from the government.
- Spotify - As much as I want to be in Apple's ecosystem, this is still the winner.
- Shortcuts - I created some shortcuts to make my life easier. I will share them someday.
